Like running into an old ex when you’re violently throwing up at a party, Drunk Parents sends what could be a nice reunion into a wretched, booze-soaked venue. Re-teaming 30 Rock-ers Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek, the comedy sees the pair as a well-to-do couple who, after sending their daughter off to college (it’s unclear how this is related to anything else), find they’ve gone bankrupt, sending them into an hour or so of seemingly-incoherent, apparently-drunken get-rich-again schemes.
Drunk Parents is Fred Wolf’s follow-up to his similarly-titled Charlie Sheen vehicle, the Crackle comedy Mad Families. But you likely know Wolf better for writing and/or directing the likes of the Grown Ups and Joe Dirt series. Jim Gaffigan, Joe Manganiello, and Bridget Moynahan also got roped into this latest broad effort from the writer of Without a Paddle. It hits theaters, somehow, April 19.
