Alexander Skarsgård and Whoopi Goldberg to finally face off in Stephen King’s The Stand

Alexander Skarsgård is joining brother Bill among the ever-growing number of projects Stephen King is making bank on.

According to Collider, Skarsgård has signed on to join CBS All Access’s adaptation of King’s post-apocalyptic epic, The Stand. He’ll play Randall Flagg, the longtime King multi-universe antagonist also known as the Man in Black. You may already remember him as having a lot of lean muscle as played by Matthew McConaughey in that crummy Dark Tower adaptation.

And if you missed The View yesterday, shame on you. Some View-head you are. Also, you missed some more The Stand casting announcements. King was a guest, and it was revealed that The View’s own Whoopi Goldberg will play Mother Abigail in the new take. Jovan Adepo, Owen Teague, Brad William Henke, and Daniel Sunjata have likewise joined the cast, which already includes James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young, and Henry Zaga.

The Stand is set for a release sometime next year. In the meantime, we’ll have to settle for the Whoopi-centric post-apocalyptic horrors of The View.
