Animated Spider-Man gets a trailer and a longwinded title with the ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse’ teaser

Though Sony only just again rebooted Spider-Man with Homecoming, already the studio is at it again in giving us new actors in paisley-eyed spandex. This time it’s an animated foray, separate from the Marvel universe they lent Tom Holland’s Peter Parker to, with the clumsily-titled Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. Here, The Get Down‘s Shameik Moore stars as not Parker but Miles Morales, the more modern, shared iteration of Spidey. This first teaser doesn’t give away a lot about the film (beyond that there are too many line letters on a single subway train), but it’s at least a promise that veteran animators and directors Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey have gone for something more unique than the typical animated fare. We’ll see whether it pays off next December.
