Apple is rebooting Ghostwriter

Television will once again be haunted by the spectre that’s for some reason just a circle with a couple curved lines.

Apple has announced that they’re planning a reboot of Ghostwriter, the ’90s PBS series that saw a group of Brooklyn friends solving mysteries with the help of an apparition that took the form of—Christ, what is that thing?—an orb with wifi?

In its transition to Apple’s TV+, the series will be re-imagined to see four kids team up to solve a mystery involving a bookstore-haunting ghost who releases literary characters from the public domain and into the real world. And honestly, if the new take on this ghost just looks like a sheet with a couple eye-holes in it, that would already be a huge improvement over a floating ball draped in parentheses.
