Check out the Lonely Island’s cut, “impossible” Oscars musical number

Bloated with little video segments, and costing, well, at least more than a jet ski, last night’s Oscars were a lengthy, no doubt expensive affair. But if it were up to the Lonely Island guys, the ceremony could have been even a little longer and a lot pricier—and all the better for it.

As the comedy-music group revealed on Twitter, they were asked to write a song for the awards show. They did, and they even put together the above demo and storyboards, only to be told the idea was “financially and logistically impossible.” Given the many stars, celebrity Chrises, and various Vin Diesel roles involved, it’s not hard to see why.

  • Would certainly have been something we were all talking about.
