‘The Circle’ Flops Against ‘How To Be a Latin Lover’, ‘Baahubali 2’

Over the weekend, it was a box office certain to terrify certain portions of the U.S.: films from Latino and Indian studios just took out the aging face of white America’s kindly uncles, Tom Hanks. While Fate of the Furious held on to the number one spot, How To Be a Latin Lover and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion managed to take the second and third spots, bringing in a respective $12 million and $10 million. That put the Emma Watson-Tom Hanks thriller The Circle in fourth with only $9.3 million. What makes those numbers more surprising is that, even combined, Latin Lover and Baahubali 2 were still playing in fewer than half the theaters of The Circle.

Next weekend: look for Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 to easily take over the top spot, and for Trump to enact a ban on these dangerous foreign films to enter the U.S. and steal our box office dollars.
