Danny Boyle has a “properly good” way to finish 28 Days Later trilogy

Director Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are loosely planning a return to the 28 Increasing Time Units Later franchise they started. In a new interview with The Independent, Boyle said he and Garland, who wrote the original 28 Days Later, “have a wonderful idea for the third part. It’s properly good.

“The original film led to a bit of a resurgence in the zombie drama and it doesn’t reference any of that,” he said. “It doesn’t feel stale at all.” Whether it will feel stale by the time it happens is another question, though, because this thing is apparently on the back burner.

Said Boyle: “[Garland is] concentrating on directing his own work at the moment, so it’s stood in abeyance really, but it’s a you-never-know.”

So, on to 127 Additional Hours or Slumdog Billionaire then?
