David Ayer is a filmmaker of repetition. The writer-director has given us numerous gritty films about partner cops, multiple films in which Will Smith teams up with a gross-skinned guy, and already two films about military guys crammed into an enclosed metal space. So it’s no wonder that, with another DC comics-based movie on the way, the Suicide Squad and Fury director is likewise ready to again do another goddamn World War II tank movie.
According to Deadline, Ayer is in talks to make his latest “WWII tank battle thriller” El-Alamein, a film about a series of fights that pitted the Axis and Allies against each other across the deserts of Egypt.
Don’t worry, though: Ayer remains attached to also again revisit the fascinating subject of orc cops.
