Ed Norton does a seemingly misguided I Am Sam Spade in the Motherless Brooklyn trailer

The most off-putting sequel to Hudson Hawk is here with the trailer for Motherless Brooklyn, writer-director Edward Norton’s adaptation of Jonathan Lethem’s 1999 novel.

Norton also stars as Lionel Essrog, a Tourette’s-afflicted P.I.-in-training whose boss (Bruce Willis’s Frank Minna) is murdered, sending Essrog on the chase for the killer. Willem Dafoe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael K. Williams, Alec Baldwin, Leslie Mann, and Bobby Cannavale co-star.

Norton’s tics will beg for ticket sales when Motherless Brooklyn hits theaters November 1.
