Event Horizon series to bring the Hell dimension to Amazon

Where we’re going, we won’t need eyes to see!

That’s not exactly true, though, Sam Neill, because you’re going to an Amazon series that one definitely needs eyes to see.

According to Variety, The Guest and You’re Next director Adam Wingard is set to executive produce and direct a series reboot of Event Horizon, Paul W. S. Anderson’s 1997 sci-fi-horror magnum opus that was still pretty stupid.

The original saw Laurence Fishburne as a starship captain investigating the loss of a vessel that was testing an experimental gravity drive capable of creating black hole wormholes. Turns out, it also opens a portal to a dimension of PURE CHAOS, turning scientist Sam Neill into a demonic, eyeless freak. Like every other B-movie of a Paul W. S. Anderson film, it was ultimately quite bad, but there was enough cool imagery in there that it may indeed turn out better under new stewardship.

And, honestly, these days the Hell dimension isn’t even sounding that bad.
