First ‘Black Panther’ Trailer Is a Trip to Glorious, Futuristic Wakanda

TV-VCR was on a brief hiatus over an extended weekend, but we’d be remiss not to give belated mention to this first trailer for Black Panther.

As the latest product off Marvel’s efficient, ever-satisfactory assembly line, the film of course looks a lot like the rest of Marvel’s aggressively-interconnected Cinematic Universe. But thanks to its cast of largely black actors, as well the unique Afrofuturism in its Wakandan production design, Black Panther also looks like nothing we’ve seen in a Marvel film before. Chadwick Boseman reprises the title role, playing both African king and superhero cat silhouette. Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Sterling K. Brown, Florence Kasumba, Daniel Kaluuya, Martin Freeman, and Andy Serkis are among the names filling out the rest of the film’s stacked lineup. It hits theater February 16, 2018.
