Flintstones, meet the Flintstones (yet again), in a new, adult-targeted reboot

The modern stone-age family is set to return for our own socio-political modern stone-age.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. Animation and Elizabeth Banks’s Brownstone Productions are teaming up for a reboot of TV’s iconic The Honeymooners-as-cavemen reboot, The Flintstones. Though Banks makes for an obvious live-action Wilma, this project will reportedly be an animated primetime series aimed at an adult audience that just can’t wait to hear Bamm-Bamm finally drop the four-letter exclamatory he’s long been building to.

Notably, prolific primetime adult cartoon-maker Seth MacFarlane already tried this before, developing a reboot that ultimately didn’t move forward for Fox back in 2011. But maybe it will fare better now that CBS has its own Honeymooners reboot in the works to help usher us back to that bygone era when borderline domestic violence was inexplicably played for laughs.
