Garth Marenghi gets disturbingly serious with the Possum trailer

Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace star and co-creator Matthew Holness has made his return to surreal horror—but not ironically this time. The author, dream weaver, visionary—plus actor—can now add “director” to his list with Possum, a feature debut he also wrote. Recurring Tom Cruise antagonist Sean Harris stars as “a disgraced children’s puppeteer forced to confront his wicked stepfather (Alun Armstrong) and the secrets that have tortured his entire life.” And while a disgraced children’s puppeteer is certainly an easy target for mockery, Holness’s usual winking laughs are nowhere to be found. This thing looks even more disturbing than a giant-dicked rapist eyeball monster.

Possum hits UK theaters this October.
