James Gandolfini’s son to aptly play young Tony Soprano

David Chase has found a young Tony Soprano in an obvious spot: the young genes of a Gandolfini. According to Deadline, James Gandolfini’s son Michael has signed on to fill his father’s XL bowling shirt in Chase’s Sopranos prequel film, The Many Saints of Newark.

The new-model Gandolfini joins the likes of Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Billy Magnussen, and Corey Stoll in the ensemble drama, said to be set amid the deadly Newark race riots of the ’60s. (Spoiler: Tony survives those.) Alan Taylor is directing.
