Join Wes Anderson on his stop-motion ‘Isle of Dogs’ with wonderful first trailer

In the first trailer for Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs, the most surprising thing may be that the line “I don’t think I can stomach any more of this garbage” somehow is NOT a Jason Schwartzman delivery. The film looks as much like a Fantastic Mr. Fox follow-up as it could, charmingly stop-motion animated, meticulously staged, and filled with notable names lending their distinctive voices to cartoonish canids. Bryan Cranston stars alongside Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Bob Balaban, and many more—Anderson regulars and otherwise. The plot appears to see a group of dogs helping a 12-year-old Japanese boy find his own pup on an isolated island where dogs have been banished. Given the fate of so many a dog in a Wes Anderson movie, go in ready to be both delighted and wrecked.

Isle of Dogs will devastate theaters March 23.
