Lakeith Stanfield hooked into Candyman remake

It seems the new Candyman will be taking it easier on the gratuitous boob shots. As reported by SuperBroMovies (and since confirmed by outlets without “Bro” in their name), Sorry To Bother You’s Lakeith Stanfield is set to star in Little Woods director Nia DaCosta’s Candyman remake. It’s said Stanfield is playing not the title role but something analogous to Virginia Madsen’s protagonist: he’ll play Anthony, “a socially pronounced artist in Chicago who researches the urban legend of Candyman.” (That legend being an elaborate story involving the ghost of the murdered son of a slave, a hook hand, speaking Candyman’s name into a mirror, and bees.)

The project reunites Stanfield with his Get Out director, Jordan Peele, who co-wrote the script and is executive producing.
