Minecraft still supposedly to be a movie

After the well-earned success of The Lego Movie, it’s hard to poo-poo the idea of a Minecraft movie altogether. But its painfully prolonged development sure does make it hard to champion the shitty home Warner Bros. is trying to build for it.

In development since 2014, Minecraft (the movie) first had Shawn Levy attached to direct before It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator/star Rob McElhenney stepped in to head up the project.

And now, according to THR, there’s been a slight update in our cube-built home: Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett remains attached helming the thing, and now Hidden Figures and Frozen 2 writer Allison Schroeder is signed on to write the screenplay. The story of hitting a button to get some materials to build some stuff that makes little difference to anything will at last be told!
