Superman and Batman now lost in the darkness of an over-filtered CGI mess, the DCEU is continuing on without them. While the rubbery suits of those guys continue to gather dust that you just know will be impossible to clean off that texture, now Shazam is joining the growing ranks of heroes (and villains) whose universe is growing.
According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. has already started development on a sequel to Shazam!, the superhero film that’s already made over $150 million worldwide since its release last week. Shazam! writer Henry Gayden is said to be returning to write the follow-up’s script. And let’s not forget Shazam! also has a convergent series in development: Dwayne Johnson is still set to star in an anti-hero film focused on classic Shazam villain Black Adam, who will presumably later get involved in the main franchise.
And maybe they’ll eventually make another movie about that bat guy, too.
