‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ bumped to Christmas 2019

Like our semi-estranged parent, Star Wars saga entries have planned their long-awaited return every other Christmas for the last couple years. And thanks to the Episode IX director shake-up, that’s how it’s going to stay. Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that the ninth chapter, previously dated for Memorial Day weekend 2019, will now hit theaters the following Christmas. We’ll just have to hope people still care about Star Wars then.

Considering this happened with both 7 and 8, was anyone really not expecting this? I’m more surprised they haven’t (yet) pushed that Han Solo movie no one asked for or cares about to Christmas after they kicked Lord and Miller out for Ronny Howard.

I think the official process is that the new director finishes the movie, then sees the old directors’ work and says “ewwwwwwwwww”, and reshoots everything, thus necessitating a Christmas release. But not before Disney has driven all other big movies out of that initial weekend by holding onto the slot, thus allowing their latest animated thing to go unchallenged for another week, or they put out some lesser movie unchallenged that weekend.

        This sounds accurate.

That’s some House of Cards level shit right there and now I 100% believe it.
