The Jay and Silent Bob Reboot trailer should be silenced

25 years since Clerks hit screens, Kevin Smith continues to insist that his 994 film’s characters and dated, juvenile comedy remain as relevant as oversized jean shorts with his latest, The Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

The film sees Smith and Jason Mewes again (again!) reprise their title roles as the silken-haired stoner and Kevin Smith staring unbearably wide-eyed, with the duo’s film now being rebooted—beginning with a reboot of Jay’s lame not-even-parody of Silence of the Lambs. Ugh.

“[The reboot] sucks. There, I said it,” Jason Biggs, as himself, says in a doubly-meta moment at the end of this trailer. “And who’s directing this shit, anyway? Kevin fucking Smith!?”

Nice try getting ahead of the audience reaction there, Smithy, but it doesn’t make American Pie any less correct.
