Featuring two of our most waifish, creepily-modelesque brunettes to take on a sickly-green pallor as a comic book villain, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets sees Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) as government special operatives maintaining order in a futuristic universe. Said universe’s elaborate, flying-car-filled cityscapes and Jim Henson-esque aliens should probably look familiar, too: this thing is Luc Besson’s long-awaited, stylish sci-fi follow-up to cult favorite The Fifth Element! About time this guy got back to space, yeah?
Anyway, while the trailer looks fun, exciting, and visually inventive, it remains to be seen whether Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will truly be able to match The Fifth Element‘s fantastic success in encouraging so much practically naked cosplay.
