Weekend Box Office: Men in Black and Shaft are not great franchises

Well, Men in Black: International may have topped the box office, but it’s not looking great for that film nor fellow new release Shaft. These latest tired soft reboots fell well short of estimates, MIB: International opening at $28.5 million and Shaft not even making the top five with a sixth place $8.3 million. Dammmmn right, that’s pretty bad.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 barely lost its number one debut with $23.8 million, and Aladdin dropped to third with $23.8 million. Dark Phoenix fell a massive 73% to fourth, and Rocketman held to fifth with $8.8 million.

Anyway, Toy Story 4 and Child’s Play come out at the end of the week, so we’ll see which rises the surface. Hopefully the one where the actor we like voices a living doll!
