Though his last couple efforts have been pretty blasé affairs, Adam McKay continues to draw in some top-tier talent for his increasingly lazy socio-political satires. The writer-director has reportedly set the stellar cast of Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr., Forest Whitaker, and Danielle DeadWyler for his latest, Average Height, Average Build.
The film is being billed as “part serial killer thriller, part comedy”—but don’t worry, it’s still going to be a dull-edged blade aimed at the political establishment. It’s said the plot sees a serial killer using lobbyists to manipulate politicians, change laws, and ultimately make it easier to get away with murdering a bunch of people. Now imagine that serial killer is a corporation! Whoa, right? Yes, a concept that could have been a tweet is now going to be a two-hour-plus movie with an A-list cast and, with several studios already passing, almost certainly headed straight-to-streaming. It should indeed be criminal to use money like this, Adam McKay.
