Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus is joining the MCU, a gift for the good of mankind

While the return of J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson was unequivocally the best possible crossover between the Raimi and MCU Spider-Man franchises, it seems we’ll be getting the clear runner-up too.

Various trades have confirmed that Alfred Molina has joined Marvel’s Spider-Man follow-up to Far from Home, where he’ll reprise his role as Doctor Octopus. The news comes as a sweet treat to offset the earlier sour of Jamie Foxx’s insufferable Electro likewise making a return.

Plot details on the sequel aren’t yet known, but given that Benedict Cumberbatch will appear in Spider-Man 3 prior to his Raimi-directed Doctor Strange sequel, it’s seeming increasingly likely that the Multiverse of Madness is preceded by a Spider-Verse of Franchises Past.
