Ana de Armas is Cuban Marilyn Monroe in Netflix’s Blonde trailer

Have you ever wanted to hear Marilyn Monroe relate—in a Cuban accent, no less—her inner-workings and experiences as imagined by terribly prolific author Joyce Carol Oates? You’re in luck! Netflix has made that a movie! Have a peak with this trailer for Blonde.

Ana de Armas stars as Monroe herself, the iconic bombshell telling one-time husband Joe DiMaggio (Bobby Cannavale) of the level of artifice required in playing the role of such a star. Again, she is telling all this in a very apparent Cuban accent. It’s fine! It’s just another level of artifice(?)!

And coming from Andrew Dominik, the writer-director of Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and Killing Them Softly, it may well turns out far better than a Netflix biopic has any expectation of being.

We’ll find out September 28.
