Twenty-five years since the death of Rent composer and playwright Jonathan Larson, his story will now be told by another Broadway luminary: the unavoidable Hamilton guy.
The feature directing debut of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tick, Tick… Boom! adapts Larson’s own autobiographical musical for Netflix. Andrew Garfield stars in this story of the then-starving artist turning 30 and pondering whether he should give up on his stage dreams and pursue a more lucrative career—or leave New York altogether. Inability to pay rent was sort of a running theme for the guy.
We’ll find out whether Miranda added a goofy little rap in there when Tick, Tick… Boom! hits Netflix and select theaters November 19.
