Casey Affleck’s Cheap Halloween Costume Haunts Rooney Mara in ‘A Ghost Story’ Trailer

David Lowery’s follow-up to his Pete’s Dragon remake, A Ghost Story is something like a more vast and contemplative take on P.S. I Love You—except now the ghost is not nearly so terrifying as an eternal, ever-present Gerard Butler. It’s just Casey Affleck in a sheet.

The film re-teams Lowery with his Ain’t Them Bodies Saints stars Affleck and Mara, who star as a young couple living in a house that Affleck wants to stay in but Mara hopes to leave. Affleck sure gets his way, though: he dies and, draped in a white cloth with eye-holes, continues to roam the abode—first observing his partner’s mourning, then continuing to haunt the lot far into the distant future. This guy really knows how to one-up Up.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Casey Affleck hits theaters July 7.
