Chiwetel Ejiofor got roped into this Man Who Fell to Earth series remake nobody asked for

Transformers and Star Trek writer Alex Kurtzman’s latest terribly misguided sci-fi reinvention? A loose series remake of The Man Who Fell to Earth. And it gets worse: the talented Chiwetel Ejiofor has agreed to star in this episodic bad idea.

Ejiofor has reportedly signed on to follow up David Bowie as an extraterrestrial who crash lands on our planet for a Paramount+ Man Who Fell to Earth show. The 1976 original, directed by Nicolas Roeg, has become a cult classic adored for its surreal visuals and the brilliant casting of Bowie as an alien seeking out water to bring back to its drought-plagued home world. The update will more vaguely see an alien “who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future,” whatever that means.

It’s like, there are at least two big-name actors more otherworldly and ethereal than Chiwetel Ejiofor whose costarred with him in Doctor Strange alone. Why are we saddling this poor man with this doomed project? Can’t we let Mia Goth or someone deal with it?
