Heading into its third weekend in theaters, the high-concept horror A Quiet Place has already made over $200 million worldwide on a slim $17 million budget. Which is to say: Paramount is obviously making a sequel to this thing. And if there was any doubt, studio CEO Jim Gianopulos reportedly just made it explicit at CinemaCon, where he formally announced that the follow-up is in development. While star/director/co-writer John Krasinski has said in past that he has more ideas for A Quiet Place 2, he’s also already committed to direct a sci-fi thriller and star in another season of Amazon’s Jack Ryan, so it remains to be seen whether he’ll be the one tasked with making things even quieter.
