“Crocodile” Paul Hogan will play himself in The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee

Paul Hogan is returning to the role he’s secondarily known for: Paul Hogan. The Aussie actor absolutely everyone just thinks of as “Crocodile” Dundee is reportedly set to star in The Very Excellent Mr. Dundee, a comedy that will see him playing a fictionalized version of himself. According to Variety, the plot sees Hogan on the verge of being knighted for his service to comedy. (In real life, he actually has been granted slightly lower Member of the Order of Australia status, though that was prior to Lightning Jack and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles.) Told by his manager to not do anything that would endanger his shot at knighthood, Hogan of course ends up immediately ruining his reputation—no doubt due to his outdated, binary gatekeeping when it comes to what constitutes a knife.

Though the real-life Hogan was in the ensemble comedy That’s Not My Dog! early this year, most likely last saw him playing—who else?—“Crocodile” Dundee in this Super Bowl spot:
