Television icon David Letterman is returning to the small screen with a series that—sorry, Jay Leno—is not about his expensive cars.
Netflix today announced a deal with Letterman for a six-episode talk show to premiere next year. The series would seem to be to Late Night what Last Week Tonight is to The Daily Show, going vastly more in-depth with a familiar format. Each hourlong episode will feature a conversation with a single guest, interrupted only by “in-the-field segments expressing [Letterman’s] curiosity and humor.”
In a statement, the host added, “I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix. Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely.”
Letterman has yet to reveal how we’ll find out about all the classic convertibles he owns.
