In this new trailer for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, Jon Snow teases that “the Great War has begun.” Cersei Lannister confirms as much, pointing out the various armies approaching from all sides, each fighting for their claim on the throne. But as Davos notes, “If [they] don’t put aside [their] enmities and bound together, [they all] will die, and then it doesn’t matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne.” Unless you’re talking about, like, a sentient skeleton, of course. If you sit one of those on the throne, then he is rightfully the Skeleton King, and that’s definitely going to matter when it comes to enacting bone law.
We’ll see whether Westeros shall be ruled by man, woman, or spooky skeleton when Game of Thrones returns to HBO on July 16.
