Over three decades since Vampire’s Kiss, Nicolas Cage is finally going all-the-way vampire. And wow is it ever wild. Have a look with these first images from Renfield.
Nicholas Hoult stars in the title role of Dracula’s deranged underling—but obviously the attention-grabber here is Cage as Dracula himself. The makeup, the nails, the costume jewelry, the red velvet suit… It’s like Ryan Reynolds brought Elizabeth Taylor’s corpse to the Red Notice premiere and they horribly fused.
To make the whole thing even wilder, Cage has said he’s been inspired by Malignant and Ringu in “look[ing] at what we can explore with this movement and voice.” So that’s gonna be nuts.
Sorry, Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, and Gary Oldman, but this is what peak Dracula looks like.
While Cage clearly nailed the look, we’ll have to wait another year to see what’s up with the movement and voice. Renfield is set to hit theaters April 14, 2023.
