Get ready for another rich, murderous turd to get their Southern-fried comeuppance: it’s the trailer for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery!
Knives Out writer-director Rian Johnson hasn’t been coy about taking cues from the whodunnit classics for his Benoit Blanc films, and for this second entry, he’s going with another classic trope: the murdery mystery party that results in an actual murder mystery. Ed Norton invites Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista to his private island for a murder mystery. Soon after—wouldn’t you know it?—someone turns up dead for real, and Daniel Craig’s Det. Foghorn Leghorn is on the case.
The sequel has already screened at film festivals, where it’s been (mostly) fondly regarded as a bigger and funnier film than the original. Which is to say, again, now Dave Bautista is involved.
Glass Onion will have a weeklong Thanksgiving theatrical preview before hitting Netflix December 23.
