Hellraiser‘s pleasures are headed to HBO

HBO has such sights to show us, and most of them will be very gross. According to Deadline, the network has made a deal to reboot Clive Barker’s classic horror franchise Hellraiser as a series. Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) and Mark Verheiden (Daredevil, Swamp Thing) are attached to write and executive produce, with successful Halloween rebooter David Gordon Green signed on to executive produce and direct several episodes.

Given the talent involved—and that Hellraiser‘s skinless corpse has already been dragged through nine sequels, the last of them just two years ago—this sounds like just the rebirth Pinhead-heads have been hoping for. Not to mention what a huge break this is for Chatterer. Having a grotesque, wrinkly bald head and wires permanently exposing his constantly chattering teeth makes it hard for him to find non-Hellraiser roles, so this was basically the make or break of whether or not he was going to be able to feed himself, which he does by shoving food in his mouth really quickly between the chatters of his teeth. That’s Hollywood discrimination.
