Here’s a 2007 Melissa McCarthy movie that’s finally headed to theaters for some reason

Shot over a decade ago and sitting on the shelf since 2007, Cook-Off! is finally coming to theaters. And if you’re wondering why it’s been gathering dust so long, look no further than this trailer. The ensemble film is basically an amateurish aping of the Christopher Guest format, a mockumentary focused on a group of eccentrics in a low-stakes competition. Melissa McCarthy, Diedrich Bader, Louie Anderson, Ben Falcone, Niecy Nash, Phil LaMarr, Stephen Root, and Jim Rash are among the improvising actors soon to be confronted with screen time they hoped had been lost forever.

Cook-Off! is getting a digital and limited theatrical release November 17. Right in the meat of awards season!
