Aaron Sorkin has found the perfect roles for Nicole “Laffs” Kidman and Javier “Regular Lookin’ Guy” Bardem. He’s reportedly just set them to play comedy icons Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in his Amazon production Being the Ricardos.
Like Sorkin’s Steve Jobs, the film goes tighter and higher concept than your standard biopic. It’s said to cover a single production week of I Love Lucy, starting at the Monday table read and closing on Friday’s shoot before a live studio audience. Amid this, Ball and Arnaz face crises in both their marriage and careers. It’s hard, after all, to balance both a relationship and an endless barrage of chocolates coming down a conveyor belt.
