Starring Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Judd Hirsch, and some kids you’ve never heard of, the film is a coming-of-age drama loosely based on the childhood of Spielberg (Hook) himself. It seems his parents were a bit at odds philosophically, a house divided between a pragmatic computer engineer (Dano) and a creative pianist (Williams). And you will not believe which particular art form young Sammy Fabelman is very much into.
Does the director have the balls to give us a Saving Private Ryan ending, where the kid morphs into an adult Spielberg, who is staring down at the grave of Tom Hanks? We’ll find out November 11.
