Jennifer Garner: she loves body swap comedies and Amy Krouse Rosenthal children’s book adaptations, apparently!
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the 13 Going on 30 star will follow-up her upcoming Yes Day with another high-concept Rosenthal-sourced family film, Family Leave. The Netflix comedy will see Garner wake up to full family body switch, “quickly realize the same thing has happened to a family on the other side of the world” (somehow?), and try to meet up with this distant family.
It’s loosely based on Bedtime for Mommy, which saw a mom and daughter switch roles in who puts who to bed. The movie sounds barely anything like that, so it’s unclear why Netflix had to buy the rights. With Garner on as a producer—just as she was for the kids-call-the-shots movie Yes Day—it’s starting to smell like she and Rosenthal have a real grift going here. How many more reversals of the parent-child relationship are our Netflix subscriptions gonna pay for here, lady?
