It seems Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice wasn’t enough to put Jeremy Irons off from superhero adaptations soiled by Zack Snyder. According to Deadline, he’s just signed on for a lead role in Watchmen, HBO’s new adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ seminal comic.
Of course, Snyder isn’t getting his hands on this series take on the property. The Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof is heading this one up, and he’s already got Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, and Andrew Howard lined up for roles. Though Irons’ role isn’t known, it’s said to be that of “an aging and imperious lord of a British manor.” So there goes Alan Moore’s original vision of seeing Irons hang blue dong.
