Despite the enduring popularity of cult classic The Big Lebowski, the Coen brothers have long maintained that they would never make a follow-up. But if they won’t do it, then John Turturro is just going to have to lick his own balls.
The Jesus Rolls, written, directed by, and starring Turturro, sees the return of Lebowski favorite Jesus Quintana as he dances out of the bowling alley and heads off on a petty crime spree with Bobby Cannavale and Audrey Tautou.
It seems like a weird straight-to-video cash grab, but with the Coens blessing (it’s said Turturro came up with most of Jesus’ affectations himself) and an intriguing supporting cast that includes Jon Hamm, Susan Sarandon, Christopher Walken, Pete Davidson, and J.B. Smoove, sure, why the hell not. We’ll pull the fucking trigger ’til it goes click.
