Josh Brolin is doubling down on his lucrative career playing stern, lantern-jawed Marvel comics characters. Though he’s already playing Thanos across several Marvel Studios films, he’s reportedly just signed on to now also play Cable in Deadpool 2.
Hailing from the future, Cable is the son of the X-Men’s Cyclops, though he’s mainly known for being this hulking guy with a metal arm, glowing eye, and various enormous firearms. In the comics, he’s sometimes been shown to also have telekinetic and telepathic power, but for Deadpool 2, it’s expected that his main purpose will be to serve as militant straight man to Ryan Reynolds’ comic foil. And we’ll apparently be seeing quite a bit of that: Brolin signed on for a four-movie deal.
