‘Justice League’ Comic Con trailer arrives, wherever it’s meant to be

Superman is dead. So who will protect Earth when a man with a slightly large LED axe shows up? Get ready to find out with the new Comic Con trailer for Justice League, the film that unites Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg to fight off a heavy metal take on the Wicked Witch and her legion of flying chimps.

At one point in the trailer, Jeremy Irons’ Alfred notes, “I don’t recognize this world,” and he makes a valid point. Near as I can tell, this thing takes place entirely across a random series of vacant, unplaceable locales. In that way, bringing together the Justice League isn’t entirely unlike getting together a large brunch group. J.K. Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon asks, “How many of you are there?” And it’s like, “Well, there’s five of us, but we probably have a sixth coming late. What’s a place that will be empty enough to accommodate us? Outdoor seating, ideally.”

Justice League hits theaters November 17.
