A cross-breed of Garry Marshall’s bloated ensemble rom-coms and any number of saccharine, family-friendly dog movies, Dog Days is almost offensively inoffensive. Directed by actor Ken Marino, his sophomore effort following the broad comedy of How To Be a Latin Lover, the film sees a sizable cast (with a few comedy ringers, thanks to Marino’s connections) forging new loves and friendships thanks to some dogs. Nina Dobrev, Vanessa Hudgens, Adam Pally, Eva Longoria, Rob Corddry, Tone Bell, Jon Bass, Michael Cassidy, Thomas Lennon, Tig Notaro, Finn Worlfhard, Ron Cephas Jones, and Lauren Lapkus are among the stars crammed into this canine Valentine’s Day. Dog Days is sure to be on Mom’s radar when it hits theaters August 10.
