Grotesque shit runs in the Cronenberg family, and Brandon Cronenberg’s blood has returned to the screen in more ways than one in the director’s long-awaited Antiviral followup, Possessor. Andrea Riseborough stars in what’s described as a sci-fi thriller about an elite, corporate assassin who uses brain-implant technology to take over people’s bodies and execute high profile targets. It reads like absolute schlock on paper, but pedigree, festival reviews, and this trailer suggest a lot more is there than its synopsis‚ which sounds more like a hypothetical Milla Jovovich vehicle called MindSniper.
Like most of the year’s releases, who knows when this will come out.
