Not to be outdone by the release of The Fate of the Furious, Disney today debuted a teaser for its own eighth entry in an absurdly-lucrative franchise, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The Rian Johnson-auteured sequel seems to continue right where Star Wars: The Force Awakens left off, with Rey and Luke still hanging out on that island. Of course, this being a teaser and all, the rest of the story is only hinted at through disconnected images and moments.
Gaze at the inventive compositions and sweeping vistas. Marvel at the Resistance’s show-offy use of heads-up display tech. Witness Poe Dameron’s X-Wing and Darth Vader’s already-melted Kylo Ren’s helmet busted to shit. Relish the wide variety of spaceships and shots of characters sweating. And all of this accompanied by a surprisingly restrained-sounding Joker’s ardent whisper.
You and everyone else will go see another Star Wars movie when The Last Jedi opens on December 15.
