Following in the inexplicable success of their latest Adam Sandler venture, those spendthrifts at Netflix are once again making a big gamble on original content. According to Deadline, the company has committed some huge salaries and a $130 million production budget to Red Notice, the latest from thoroughly WASP-named writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber.
Thurber’s Central Intelligence star Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds are set to be attractive and charismatic in what’s said to be “an international action thriller centered around the pursuit of the most wanted art thief in the world.” The Rock is walking away with $20 million for his part, and Thurber is getting a cool eight figures himself. Sure, it’s a massive investment, but now they’ve got us all committed to keeping our Netflix accounts for at least another year-and-a-half. Because who could resist a re-teaming of the men behind Skyscraper?
