What if Pride and Prejudice featured some of our most prominent queer, Asian comedians, and was a low-to-mid-budget streaming movie originally sold as a Quibi series? The answer is here in the trailer for Fire Island.
The Austen-inspired rom-com sees Bowen Yang and Joel Kim Booster (also writer) headed to the titular, famously-gay vacation destination, where they and their friends stay at Margaret Cho’s place. Our latest of so many loose adaptations of Pride and Prejudice apparently ensues. And adding a New York homosexuality spin on the classic is at least more interesting than adding zombies, to be honest.
Fire Island hits Hulu (internationally on Disney+) June 3.
