Over the weekend, Russell Crowe was spotted hanging out at a rugby match with Chris Hemsworth, Taika Waititi, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, and Isla Fisher. We have no idea why Fisher was watching rugby with these people, but we do now know why Crowe was there with the other people: he’s joined the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder.
It’s not clear who Crowe is playing, but it seems likely he’ll just have a cameo that’s based wholly on him already being around during production (Thor is shooting in Sydney’s Fox Studios Australia). At this point, Crowe is basically just Australia’s Statue of Liberty—a giant, glowering, green monolith that you may as well get in the shot if you’re in the area.
