Star Wars: David Lowery pivots from A Ghost Story to a Skeleton Crew

From A Ghost Story, Pete’s Dragon, The Green Knight, to the upcoming Peter Pan & Wendy, director David Lowery has deftly jumped between A24 art-house fare to collecting a fat ol’ Disney paycheck. And with his next project being A24’s just-announced Mother Mary, it’s time to head back to the Mouse House coffers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lowery is one of the directors helming the latest Disney+ Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew. Recent Oscar winners Daniels have also reportedly directed an episode. Disney is apparently ready to shell out on some established indie cred after The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi were, you know, mostly bad.

Also lending some cred: that the series was co-created by Jon Watts. Between Cop Car and his surprisingly fun Spider-Man trilogy, the director has shown that he can handle a show about kids getting into trouble. That’s his concept here too—taking inspiration from old Amblin Entertainment classics like The Goonies and E.T. into the Star Wars universe.

The only known cast member is Jude Law. Must be the older brother, huh?
